A question about amateur radio antennas?

An antenna tuner will not make either a good antenna for 20 meters. Radiation from a dipole so low will be either straight up (useless except for moonbounce) or absorbed by the ground, houses, and trees. A better bet would be a trap vertical with as many above-ground radials as you can get, as high up as you can get. Mount it on your roof, with the radials on or above the roof. If the radials are slanted a bit downward, that's even better for your radiation angle. Voice won't help. At a given power level, CW has much better weak-signal performance than any voice modulation, even SSB.
