What should i do about this guy?!?

I am infatuated with someone who looks like an ex-boyfriend, but is very interesting, intelligent and funny in his own right. We haven't met but we have emailed a few times and I might have chance to introduce myself in the next few weeks. I am nervous of doing it, but should i just take the chance and see. I think he may have a partner but not sure.
