My friend can't open her eyes. Help?

My friend was sent home from work today. She normally suffers from hayfever and today her eyes were stinging really badly and she couldnt keep tem open. She has not been rubbing them and she has been taking treatment for hayfever. Her nose and throat are fine. She cannot open her eyes now at all. But even when she closes them they are squeezed shut tightly and it is giving her a really bad headache. she said that her eyes will nly roll to the back of her head and she cannot get them to face forward even with her eyes shut. She said the stinging is unbearable and the skin around her eyes is very raw from the watering and it is extremely painful to touch.This has been going on for about 5 hours now and she hasnt opened her eyes even fr a second in the past hour. Im starting to think this has nothing to do with hayfever and its something else? what could it be? please help!
